Treatment for bedbug bites; keep the suffering away
Bedbug bites don’t normally require treatment by a doctor. In most cases, bedbug bites get better within one to two weeks. The first recommended line of treatment involves cleaning the wound, ideally with soap and water to lower risk of infection and to relieve itchiness.
For itchy bites, the following may relieve minor symptoms:
- Apply corticosteroid cream to the affected area.
- Apply anti-itch cream to the affected area.
- Take an oral antihistamine to reduce itching and burning.
Most wounds heal on their own within a week, sometimes two. However, if severe swelling, inflammation, or itchiness occurs or persists, a person should always seek medical attention.
