How To Inspect a Hotel Room for Bed Bugs
Always leave your luggage at the entrance of the room until the inspection is completed.
- Remove the bed sheets to look for physical signs of their existence on the mattress and look for dark spots. If nothing is found, the hotel room is probably bed bug free.
- Should you see any dark or blood spots, contact the concierge immediately and ask for a room change or even better; move to another hotel. Request a room that is not directly next to, below or above the room infested with bedbugs.
- Check around the edges of the headboard (adult bed bugs are visible to the naked eye).
Tip: use a magnifying glass and a flashlight to help you with the inspection.
- If you are unsure or, you want to sleep without worrying about, use a product against bed bugs such as “Chinchex Bed Bugs Insecticide” around the edges of the bed. It will prevent the bed bugs from biting you.
