How To Find Bedbugs; where do they hide
The best way to identify a bedbug infestation is to look for physical signs of their existence. They are hard to find, but if you know where to look, you could spot them. Adults are bigger than the juvenile bedbugs, (around the size of an apple seed) and you have a better chance of spotting them. They are most commonly found hiding in:
- Mattresses, carpets, and sofas.
- Personal belongings.
- Headboards of cots.
- Bedside tables and other furniture.
- The corners of walls.
- Any cracks and crevices near where humans sleep.
Bedbugs are intelligent creatures and cannot always be spotted with the naked eye. If you do suspect a bedbug infestation, look for the following telltale signs that bedbugs leave behind:
- Reddish or brownish stains on bedsheets and mattresses (caused when they are crushed)
- Bedbug excrement that looks like dark spots – found on bedsheets, cushions, bedclothes, and walls
- A musty odor that is secreted by the glands of bedbugs when they are crushed
- Eggs
- Eggshells that nymphs shed as they grow larger
